trailing arm bushing
Just installed new bushing on trailing arm. whet to spread the sleeve and it split on the end. Should I have used a press instead of big hammer? I do have the tool to install it

yes, you can buy or make a tool to press the steel sleeve. swedgeing the inner sleeve outwards. big hammer? sounds a bit crude.

I have seen the sleeve split like that and it happened while using a fixture on the press. The sleeves were the problem. I use a little grease on the flare tool and carefully press them in but use sleeves from one source that work.
