How far and in what direction do have to make the TKO 600 shifter come up in the right spot in the console?
The Kiesler kit came with the offset shifter block. I still had to trim the sheet metal tunnel top driver side for the handle. I was going from an automatic
I just put a American Powertrain TKO600 in my 73 Corvette. The transmission had a special modification adding an additional shifter box on the left
side of the stock rear shifter box. I had previously installed a Hurst Driveline TKO600 over a year ago in my 55 Chevrolet and it did not have this 'extra' box. I do not think you can just swap shifters to get to the proper location on a C3. To me it wa well worth the extra cost to get something that has been properly engineered for the application rather than trying to cob something together. There was machining involved to modify the transmission and add the extra box.

I have had this transmission for several years and it is new and still in the box. I have seen where members have modified the original shifter to work. I did a search , but couldn't find how much and in what direction they made it so the handle came up in the right position. I would like to modify it before I install the trans.
When I installed my TKO 600 the supplier I got the trans from did not have a shifter for a C3 yet but he figured the C2 shifter would be close enough. It wasn’t and I ended up fabricating a bracket which moved the shifter handle back about 1 1/2”. The added weight of my bracket caused the shifter handle to vibrate excessively which drove me crazy. (I know, that explains it.) A year or so later my supplier came up with a C3 shifter handle and sent me one (free of charge). I installed it and solved my vibration problem. I would recommend getting the right parts to put your shifter in the right position rather than reinventing the wheel.

I have a McLeod and it was about 2 inches back and 4 inches left. Obviously it will be different fopr your application. I just installed the tranny to figure out where to cut the tunnel. Then I just measured and made the bracket and modified as I went to get it centered in the oopenning. ONce you figure out exactly where it is going to fit you can have one made for $300.
