Coil overs
I am toying with the idea of installing Coil overs on the back of my 75. I can easily make the brackets, weld them on and I already have a set of coil overs on the shelf.
What do you guys think?

They use the koni double adjustable aluminium (I think it's the 8212). The brackets & stuff should be easy to fab for a guy like you.

Thank you for the web site. I know I could build the proper brackets and it would be easy to install but I wonder if it is an advantage. Would it put too much wear on the front bushing of the trailing arm? It would put a twisting motion to the trailing arm but I have a 6 link so I have upper and lower strut rods to prevent rotation.

In a solid axle I think there are a lot of advantages to coil overs. But if you are running a fiberglass spring, your unsprung weight is as light as it could be and coilovers would definitely increase your unsprung weight, tho probably marginally. One of the other advantages of coil overs is adjustable ride height, be we only have to turn a screw to change the ride height at the back of out cars. It might make modifications of spring rates a lot simpler and it would certainly look trick, but as far as performance (always the first consideration) I just don't see any advantage.
