I could be out working on the front suspension or the seats, but Noooooo! Instead I'll be cleaning up from this stupid ice storm that hit us here in North Carolina. We were without electricity for 30+ hours, and have 5 trees down including one that punched a softball sized hole in the roof of the new room we just added on the house.
[edit] dunno why the new forum SW won't let you post multiple pics? Here's links to the other pics of the damage. I got all the trees cut up and hauled to the street in about 2.5 hours of straight working this afternoon. Gotta wait for the rest of the ice to melt before I get the limbs and branches
Shannon... you need to make peace with the tree god.
And... oh... yeh... don't play the horses.
I just got power back on at 12:00 today since Wednesday morning at 2:00am.
The apartments around NC State are still without power... Wendys is closed :(
That sucks man, I live in Charlotte, i was one of the lucky ones that only had power go out for 3 hours, my freinds across down the road still have no power. Its also pretty scary going across some of those 4-6 lane intersections with no trafic lights, its no big deal if there arnt any of those maniac drivers around.... Good luck
I have been there being originally from upstate NY.... Thats why the first chance I got, I moved to the good ole state of TX!!! Where the vette can be driven year round!! wahooo!!! Come on down and leave the ice up there!!!
I feel for you, been there, done that! Five years ago we had pretty much the same thing, big icestorm, knocked out power to my place for seven days in January. Just think of warm thoughts....
Ooooooo...ouch! Sorry 'bout the new room. Better the house than the Vette! We were without power for 15 1/2 hours and have multiple trees down. Ran into one of my older sons today out Christmas shopping - he was still without power and expects to be without for a few days longer as his power box was ripped off of the house and all lines were ripped down by trees. He's in Southern Pines, we're in Aberdeen, just down the road from you. Happy clean-up! By the way, couldn't connect to the other three pictures you posted. Message said error - check it out. Bev
Well, after about 5 hours of cleanup, all the tree trunks are cut and hauled to the street. Gotta let the rest of the ice melt from all the pine needles before the smaller cleanup can happen. I fixed the pics so all 4 should be showing in the original post.
We lost power at about 5:30am Thursday morning, got it back about 7:30pm Saturday.
I had to take my stepmother up to Duke hosipital on Thursday morning for a scheduled surgery, had to be there by 5:30am, left Burlington at 4am. It was an impressive drive, almost better than the electrical storms we used to see in El Paso. Only these were power transformers, they do make a pretty blueish green hue.
I had to take the vette over to my stepmothers house, she already had my other car (her's is currently broke). My vette got around better in the ice than my Honda Van, which I left for my wife. She drove the van through a McDondald's drive through only to have a bunch of ice/snow fall off an awning and break the front windshield. Oh well......
