I’m running summit racing 1.5 aluminum roller rocker arms under the factory L82 valve covers on my 350. Howard’s roller cam w/ .510 lift. I did have to remove the cast in oil drippers inside but they snapped off easily with a dremel tool.

I use the Crane Energizer roller rockers. They fit under the L-82 vv covers on the stock heads but I needed to use two vv cover gaskets to get the clearance. I had no issues with baffles or drippers.

I used a variety of rockers and valve covers. I bought aluminum spacers and painted them orange to match the block and raised the valve covers for extra clearance. When you buy your rockers make sure you measure the valve spring diameter so you get the correct size rocker. And you will have to remeasure the push rods to make sure they are the correct length as well. Its not common that they will fit perfectly but sometimes it does happpen. I have used Harland Sharp and Scorpian. Had very good luck with both. If you want a little extra power you should up the ratio to 1.6 if you have the valve clearance. Even with 10.5:1 domes I had plenty of clearance.
I've used the Crane Energizer roller rockers in my '73 under the aluminum L-82 covers for more than 20 years, I used the FelPro thick cork gaskets for peace of mind but am not sure I need them. I think if you use the short Polylocks you should be good to go.
I also ran Crane Gold Race rocker arms in a solid roller 327 with Mondello heads years ago under the factory aluminum Corvette valve covers. I may have used double cork gaskets then, but I can't recall now, other than I had no problems with clearance.
This is what it looked like 35 years later when we tore it down...
The problem isn't the valve covers.....it is the heads. Just about every aftermarket head has a 1/2" raised valve cover rail. Stock GM heads will require short poly-locs and the drippers broke off......aftermarket heads just require the short poly-locs......this is for the L-82 covers.
