Will fuel tanks from any year C3 physically "fit" in any other year C3?
I've got a 79 and I'm all set on my EFI swap for now (I'm using an 82 EFI sending unit with a Walbro pump), but down the road I would like to swap to an aluminum fuel tank that has baffles so I'd like to know what I can/cannot do.
Thanks, but that wasn't my question. As I said, eventually I want an aluminum tank that's baffled and I was curious if different years swap (thus, more options on source).
The later c3 when they went with the big back glass have a different filler neck location from earlier c3. That would cause a big issue in fitting different tanks in your car.
You're complicating the crap out of this unnecessarily. Just get a CANISTER-type EFI pump and return the fuel to the canister. You can adapt the assembly to your 82 sending unit assembly a lot easier than going through the rigamarole of installing a baffled tank.
Here are some pictures of my 68 with a 90s Ford Bronco Canister Type EFI pump. It would have been a lot easier to use an 82 sending unit than to fabricate my own contraption. Never loses suction ... I ran it down to fumes as part of testing...had a friend of mine with me to add gasoline.
Somthing to consider. Lotsa different canister type EFI pumps available nowadays. https://www.corvetteforum.com/g/album/6185062
