Default HEI power wire hookup to ignition

Trying to get clear answer on where I would hook up the power on my HEI conversion from points distributor on my ‘73 coupe. Does anyone know which wire to splice to and color? Is there any wires in engine compartment that would work. Made mistake of hooking to full power on fire wall and car would not shut off. Lesson learned.
Thanks in advance for help.

I just hooked up an HEI as part of a troubleshooting task. I made a 14g black wire with female blade connectors on each end. Attached one end to the IGN male blade connector on the fuse panel by your pedal set and the other to the BATT connection on the HEI.

Mine was temporary so I didn't run the wire through the firewall...but you certainly could do that and use a black wire so its a bit more covert if that is a concern.

This is the best way to do it, but I think I would use a bit heavier gauge wire.
