These are straight through sidepipes with no baffles in them? If so they will be super loud!

I dont know anything about them but the specs sound good. Big primaries, stainless steel, TIG welded, mandrel bent......just get a shield or warn your wife about burning her calf everytime she goes to get out. My buddy carried a towel to drape across them. THeres a lot of threads on custom shields. They sure look cool. You should be able to get baffles for them if they are too loud

I read some horror stories about some people losing a ton of power with some restricted side pipes. With this car barely being a one day a week driver I don’t think the noise will be to much of an issue.

I will look around for some shields see if anything catches my eye.

I appreciate everyone’s feedback on this.

outside of a new rear end, gear, transmission, front and rear suspension, torque converter, radiator and L88 max hood is there anything else that my C3 would need to support this 400 that you would recommend?

That 400 will have enough torque I would skip the 3.73 gears since it’s a fun cruiser

I have the same stainless side pipes.(I even bought them from the same seller on ebay,) Only I bought the OBX branded version which is the same chinese made product also distributed and sold under the different brand name. In the beginning the obx branded ones sold for about half of the cost of the ones branded as maximizers until enough people caught on (I was actually reprimanded here once for pointing it out as a forum sponsor was selling them for $1600+ a set back then when the obx branded version sold for $650 with shipping). I have no complaints with mine whatsoever. I polished the welds which takes about 20 minutes with a dremel and polishing pad and makes a huge difference in appearance. They have increased in price in the last 6 years from when I bought mine. Any of the inserts for the hooker header will fit them. I currently have vettepacks in mine. The one drawback is these (as well as the hooker design they are clones of) are not really designed/ tuned for power and while they breath well and you can make a lot of power with them, There are better under the car exhaust systems with a better primary design which will have a better scavenging effect. Again not important unless your trying to squeeze every last bit of HP at the track IMO.
I burned my leg once. made heat shields shortly after, good advice.
The heat shields cost me about $70 for the pair but were chrome which looked kinda funny against the stainless pipes So I painted them. had to scuff them better and repaint after this photo due to chips around the rivit areas.

engine I was somehow able to buy and assemble with off the shelf components without a machinist.(oil pan was temporary while on stand) Then again I did the body, paint and interior as well myself without professional help other than this forum as well as other and you tube so dont let people intimidate you into always thinking you need a pro for everything. I have just under 9k in my car including the cost of the car so 5k can go pretty far. That said if you want to push limits or build for the track its a totally different story. I dont claim to be a pro at anything auto related but it sure feels better when I enjoy it or someone complements me on it when I know I did it myself.

I appreciate the feedback, I’m also glad to hear you like your side pipes as well.

did you mount your side pipes with or without the rocker panels? If they were on did you have to notch the panels?

Thanks
Austin
