My 350 trans has all of a sudden began leaking. I have checked all the hoses and pan gasket but no leaks. Seems to be coming from the converter area. Is that possible? Is there a seal between the trans and the converter? Don't want to drop the trans unless I have to. Thanks a mill..
It sounds like your front seal is leaking. The torque convertor slides over the input shaft, through this seal. The seal is easy to replace, but it requires dropping the transmission.

Yes, this sounds right. Do you have a cover over your torque converter/flywheel. If you do there should be a little hole in the bottom for this to keep the cover from filling with fluid when the seal starts leaking. Is that where your fluid is coming from?
Two common areas of leaking are around the shifter shaft and the
speedometer gear housing.
On one car, the shifter shaft was leaking and the fluid flowed
around the pan and came thru the bell housing cover, making it
appear that the front seal was leaking.
Check these seals, before dropping the transmission to replace
the front seal.
Both of these seals can be replaced without dropping the transmission.
:iagree: Wrap a paper towel around the shifter shaft, the speedo cable outlet, and the cooling line fittings. See if fluid soaks any of them...
Also, pull the torque converter dust cover. A leaky front seal can cause the back of the converter to become covered in fluid. Nail down the source of the leak before pulling the tranny!
On some cars the dust cover slightly over laps the front of the pan. If the pan gasget leaks, it can run into the dust cover. Usually a front seal does not leak that much oil while sitting, but it can happen if its bad. I agree about pulling the dust cover first and nail down the leak.
