clean aluminum heads???
I have a '65 H-D Electra Glide. The pan heads have been replaced with shovel heads, no big deal there.
I am replacing the top end gaskets due to leakage. I have the heads off of the motor. They are nasty. The carbon build up inside was terrible. The baked on oil on the outside of the heads from the leak is bad.
Q: how do ya clean cast iron heads. I don't want them "dipped" at the local engine shop because I'm afraid they will look too bright.
I need to keep them dull but I want the baked-on oil off.
Q: what to you use to remove stubborn gaskets from the heads?
UPDATE: A friend of mine says, "dummy, those are cast iron heads, not aluminum". ok, ok, my mistake.
Q: What about Easy OFF oven cleaner?
Thanks for looking. If you think I've posted a lot now, wait until I buy a Vette!
