Default 72 vette Ash tray assembly

Ok, Got a problem with the ash tray door and glides in my 72.
New door, glides. 4 screws and no more patience.

Q: Are the glides suppose to move with the door? If not, what would cause this to happen and how to fix? Door opens fine 1/2 way then binds up and glides protude past the housing. I did not put the clip on the new door

Your input , as always, is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hey Doug,
Those glides are held in place by this piece. Note the stops at each end.
It's foolproof unless something has been changed or is missing on yours.
Cheers, Greg

Hi Kansas 123 and Gregg,
In order---no I do not have a photo because I found a cure to make the world right. Sorry it took me 2 days to respond.
2nd. Gregg, thanks for the photo-- I see you have an original assembly--mine is OEM as the original was pitted terribly.. The glides would not seat on the sides of the assembly and traveled with the door. After long hours of dissecting the issue, I found that a dab of Glue along the glides solves the problem. Seems the new tray did not capture the new glides as was originally designed.

Thank you both for quick awssist on this little problem
