On my 1970, the power steering control valve has a slow leak, from the body, not from the hose fittings. I guess it's replace/rebuild time. Any experiences/recommendations anyone would like to share before I dive into it would be great. Over time (but not miles!) I've already replaced the cylinder, hoses and pump so this was just a matter of time. Thanks!
H-m-m-m-m. I find that hard to believe. A C3 with a PS leak? Maybe. (I am referring to just ONE leak)
Wilcox Corvette has a video for installing the repair kit. It moves along so fast you can miss an important step, so be prepared to hit the pause button.
Basically, there are two types of repair kits. A $20 one and a $45 one. You will need to figure out what needs to be replaced.
Others have rebuilt their C.V. and STILL get another leak eventually. A new one is north of $100, rebuilt is less of course. Some places may want a core return. Some owners hang-on to the old one for future use. Myself, I like to hang-on to parts that eventually could be rebuilt. ( PS C.V, ALT & Starters, etc)
You will need some basic tools, a vise and a way of cleaning parts. Maybe a gallon can of Barrymans carb cleaner w/ parts basket.
