I've just fitted a new Delco rear brake caliper for my '69 350 manual coupe. The old one has 3 bleed nipples but the new one only has two with the third blanked off with a stop screw. Does this mean I only need to bleed two nipples or do I have to replace the stop screw with another nipple and bleed that too? Thanks.

This posted in the C8 technical forum. You will have better luck in the C3 forum, I think.
Hi Marshal - the two bleed screws are at the front and the blanking stud is outside rear. Should I add a bleed screw instead of the stud, or only bleed the front two?
On the rears, there should be two bleeders at the top, one inside, and one outside. Those are what you bleed in the rears. Conversely, on the fronts, there is only one bleeder. Hope this helps
Thanks for your replies. Unbelievable that the caliper would come with a blanking stud instead of a bleed screw. I assumed that the new caliper only needed two bleed screws so I would have only bled two.

2 bleeders is correct. 3 is incorrect. I have seen calipers come with 3. That’s a cheap rebuild.
on the rear- the 2 bleeder screws face the front of the car. Rear side of the caliper is the brake line and a plug. Even if you have a 3rd bleeder here you should not use it.

you are misunderstanding the responses. There is nothing wrong with your calipers setup.
Yes I was getting mixed up between 'rear' as in bleeder or caliper, but I get it now - 2 bleeders at front of caliper and blanking stud outer rear. Thanks.
I had written to Corvette Central before the forum but I got a reply today about the purpose of the plug screw. When the outer calipers are cast they can be either left or right so the opening for the bleed screw which is downward on the other side, is not required and is blanked off.

Something doesn't sound right. The bleeders are never downward.
But, it doesn't matter.
Just a guess. Those plugs in the rear calipers might have aided bleeding the rear sytem as the car was coming down the assembly-line. Something tells me they didn't bother with the four bleeder screws.

I think the downward bleed screw was fitted at some time in the past to serve as a stop screw and not used as a bleeder. I waited about six months to get the calipers from Corvette Central due to Covid, but I've the bled front and rear calipers and all went well, so thanks to everyone for your help.
