For the life of me I can't understand why elementary electricals and such are not mandatory courses in high school....important as anything electrical is in today's world....it IS the 21st century for christsakes....why what passes for 'education' in this country can't be forced to teach electricals....
I"m not asking for an engineering course in RF technology,...but a simple understanding/teaching of Ohms law...how to use a voltmeter, car and house wiring techniques, how to effective use a voltmeter.....so many problems can be fixed easily once a clear understanding of how it works takes place....
should be done for mechanical things too....
I should think i'ts much more valuable knowledge than say teaching HS choir, band, football, etc....
Fear not, Mr. Vette. My father is an electrician, and for the past six years I've been working partime for him. Now that I'm in college, I can see why you're worried though- The only time I was tested on "needing" to know electrical knowledge was for the ASVAB test for the Army! It has never even been taught in grade, middle, high school or college. Not even basic circuits and the like. It's a shame :nonod:
Fresh out of high school, I sadly have to say, everything I know, I taught myself. Besides some math and maybe a few formulas in sciencee, I learned english and grammar from reading, and alot of practical knowledge (cars, electronics, various trivia) just from life experience that I sought out for myself. Public school is a social opportunity. I feel sorry for people who have solely relied on public school for their education. So that's my rant.
On another note I'm watching some 70s movie and a green chrome bumper just rolled up...
Maybe I'm just bitter in anticipation of finals! Thanks for your time...
Maybe a general How Stuff Works class where they run through basic electrical, how to check fluids on a car, when the change those fluids, how to change a tire, how to put two pieces of wood together, just the simple stuff that everyone should know how to do so we don't have to bang our heads against the wall wondering how stupid the person was that broke this or how stupid they were that they couldn't fix it!
