Before I start this next project, are there any tips that someone can share on new carpet installation, mainly on the fit aspect, the carpet should be here any day now, just bought from another forum member, thanks,Rich
Get it warm before you try to install. I've always heard to lay it out on driveway in the Hot Sun spread out so all the lumps and wrinkles come out. Sort of the wrong time of the year for that though. I think you could get the same effect by spreading it out inside and warming it up with a heat gun.
This topic has been beaten to death, but I'll repeat it, anyway... use the opportunity to seal up all the holes in your car and add insulation of some kind.
There are several brands of commercial insulation are effective, and alot of people sell the the stuff. Some of the "Space Age Stuff" can be sort of expensive. If you want to go much cheaper you can get the stuff sold at Home Depot, Lowe's and other home improvement stores. It is a thin plastic material that has aluminum on both sides. It is only about $10-15 for a roll of the stuff. It probably isn't nearly as good as the high priced stuff, but it has to better than nothing. It is easy to cut, and you can tape the pieces together with Aluminum tape.
Some guys swear by the stuff and have even put it behind their door panels.
Check and make sure passenger side fwd left corner/edge is long enough to cover any exposed wires and goes under side removable panel. Mine came up an inch short or so and didn't cover up exposed wires etc.. Also use metal tape for insulation edges. Use good heavy duty shear clips/scissors.
