Default Dashboard wiring questions

I have the speedometer/tach gauges out and discovered I do not have a windshield wiper door control solenoid and I also can not find the pig tail that goes to it. I’ve attached some photos if someone can tell me where to look or where I would splice a replacement into would be great. Also can someone identify the one pigtail I have that has the yellow wire also what is the capacitor looking thing with the orange and white wires and what is it used for. Thanks so much guys I really appreciate all of the help!

I’m also not sure what this is for?

I’m not sure what this is for as it was unplugged and stuffed behind the speaker grill.

What year are you talking about? It looks like Bubba has been working on your wiring as it looks like there are some connectors that aren’t factory. In your third picture those are the vacuum overrides for the headlights and wiper door. The switch in the middle stops the wipers so you can change the blades. You need to make sure that is turned off or it’ll drain your battery. There are vendors that sell detailed wiring diagrams that are in color and they will help you sort out your wiring issues.

Sorry I always forget to include the year it’s a 69 coupe 4 speed. Yea I’ve learned that and am in the process of soldering all of the splices to fix the crimp connectors. I have AIM and have been looking at it but I can’t see where the solenoid pigtail for the wiper door would come from off the harness. I also don’t know what that extra pigtail is that was down by the fuse block. My car had factory AC but neither that nor the heat works so I’m not sure if the connector was for AC or something else. Just trying to get everything cleaned up and fixed before reinstall.

This is from my 69 AIM and shows that the wiper door solenoid wiring comes out of the harness with the wiper switch. According to the wiring diagram it has a light blue wire and a yellow wire to the connector.

Great! Thanks so much for the help, I have the AIM I guess I’m just not very good at reading through it and utilizing it to it’s fullest potential.

Glad that you figured it out. I wasn’t so lucky with my dash harness because the previous owner cut it at the fuse box. I put in a new dash harness and didn’t have to deal with someone else’s handiwork.

Default Wiper Solenoid connections

The wiper solenoid connections are two Yellow wires and two Lt Blue wires in one connector. See photo. In the attached drawing the two wires that go down off the drawing, one yellow wire goes to the Wiper fuse in the fuse panel. One Lt Blue wire goes to the Bulkhead connector and then to the wiper motor. The picture and the drawing are for a '69.

Thanks a lot guys. Yea it really sucks when you have to figure out what goes where on a 50 year old car because the guy who “restored” it wanted to cut corners. Does anyone have an idea what that other connector is for?
