Default Need to get 2” down in front

Hi

i changed my front springs and my car is sitting way to high.
I need to get it down 2”
im wondering how mush I should cut my springs.
in the picture I show the new spring, and the old. And my car before and after.
some say, cut 1” of spring to lower 2”, and others 1 coil to lower it 1.5-2”
My car is a SB.

Same amount of “turns” on them. Shall I cut from the bottom or the top?

Old springs (short) way to low.

New springs (long) way to high

My experience

Pretty much doubles, 1" at the spring = 2 at the wheel. A little more than double at the wheel well lip (I took 1/2" at the spring and dropped just shy of 1-1/4 at the wheel well)
Take it from the "open end of the spring" will stiffen the ride and get a little more drop
Take it from the "closed end of the spring" will not really change (slightly softer) the ride and will be closer to the 1:2 drop ratio

Are they positioned in the pocket correctly?

Edit - If you don't like it I'll take your car off your hands. BEAUTIFUL. I'd have to repaint it though. Never a big fan of red.

love the red. just did this on mine a couple months ago. I too came on here and asked for advice. didn't really get any useful advice. wanted to do it once. ended up doing it 3 times. I wanted about an inch and a half. ended up cutting one full coil (from the bottom) . as one full coil keeps things lined up in the pockets. this was a tad to low for me. put in a 3/8 inch spacer. got me there.
for you. 1 full coil should be really close.

I like the first pic stance, but the other makes it look like a DONK. That is way too high. GL, love the color.

Thank you so very much!
I took 1” from both sides (I coil) and now it sits almost perfect. I think that after driving it the last bit will get there.

After rolled many times and exercising the springs this is the result. Now I will get a little bit bigger tire.

You will not get an answer that is perfect for your situation because there are too many variables. You should use trial and error and be very conservative with your coil cuts. I cut a 1/2 coil for a 1 inch drop with these coils but different coils and ratings will give you a different reduction. There is no one cut and done without knowing a few parameters of the car, previous coil specs, engine , replacement coil size and rating, car coil installation variability, etc

Have cut many springs on previous cars, but I just could not get the Vette right. After cutting and cutting and cutting too far, I bit the bullet and finally got semi coil overs from Van Steel. One and done. Exactly how I want it dialed in with a turn of a wrench.

C3s are super tricky on installing the front spring, and not getting the upper part of the spring lined up correctly can add an inch or two to the ride height. Plus there are slight height differences side to side.

Were those 460lb springs to start with?
