I'm about to install a dual Spal fan with a wiring plan from Markus that will allow both fans to run at low speed when sensor #1 kicks in at 185 and both fans to run at high speed when sensor #2 kicks in at 205.
So I need two screw in temp sensors. The factory spot in the alum cylinder head is being used for my water temp gauge. So I need tow others.
It has been suggested that I weld in two bungs for sensors in the neck of the intake manifold waterneck.
Any thoughts on this or other suggestions?
Re: Advice Needed: Dual Sensor for Dual Spal (flynhi)
That's what I did when I installed electric fans. I tapped the waterneck and installed the sensor there.
Isn't the passenger side head tapped for a sender? Later models have a sender for the kick in auxiliary fan there.
If you look closely you can see it here (shame on me, it's a FIAT sender :D )
Another idea may be to use a spacer under the thermostat housing and tap that for senders (there are spacers available, maybe they have the correct thread for the senders).

Will,
Have you checked the other head to see if it has a bung in it? My L98 heads have a sensor bung in each head and there are two bungs in my intake manifold.
Another possibilty is to use the water neck from a 78-82 Corvette, it has two bungs for some kind of sensors.
