Default Installing larger diameter half shafts

Need to clearance my compartments behind the seats to accommodate the larger diameter I believe??
Has anybody done this, and what material did you use to replace the removed fiberglass ? I am ready to start cutting
Thanks,
Bill

Cut here

2-1/2" vs 3" halfshafts
Just to clarify, no, the halfshafts are not "Made in Taiwan"

Why not make 2 cuts, cut the whole back wall off along the 3 corners and on along the bottom of the floor, then remove the 1" off the 3 sides, and reglass the back wall back on and make up the 1" piece to fill the gap in the floor.

You shouldn’t have to do anything up to 3.5 inches and 1350 flanges. I had a little interference with 3.5 shafts with 1480 flanges on my 69.
3 inch were stock in the later year C3’s.

This would be the best case scenario, guess I'm going to hang everything and see how it looks.

You don't have to cut anything. I have 3.5" diameter carbon fiber half shafts which fit easily.

Three and a half inch halfshafts here, too. No issues.

It's just Tom's 1480 axles with the large flanges that hit the boxes. The stock shafts will not be a problem.

That appears to be a 1480 axle- large diameter, single bolt pattern. Still I this is the first time I heard of a box issue with a c2. Do you have a finished picture? Is that a complete 1480 12 bolt set up?

I just installed my HD diff and the 3.5" half shafts. Yes it is certainly tight, but here is a great shot to show the clearance (on my 68).
My SpaceX buddy insists that they would never send something into orbit with that little clearance (damn there goes my weekend) but it is close enough for gov't work.

"Sweet, what RWHP ? More than me I'm sure"......

Haven't had the car chassis dynoed with this engine yet. Engine dynoed 686 HP, 610 TQ. I'm estimating around 500 rwhp or so.

Already answered by here is another pic, just because. 3-1/2” Tom’s shafts with 1350 joints. Good to 700rwhp. No clearance issues at all.

It barely rubs on both sides.
It is a complete Tom's 1480 setup wheel to wheel.

Thanks I built plenty of 1480 12 bolts for c2 but none ever hit that I was aware of. It looks like you stayed with zerk 1480 joints, I used to have Tom pull those out and I went with solids.
