tnt, buddy, chill! The truth is, the first time this sort of thing came up, I felt the same way--how the heck dare they try to shut us up? But there's some things you need to consider, #1 of which is the fact that this is THEIR forum, not ours. Again, it's like somebody's offered us their living room to have our corvette meetings in & the guy who owns the living room doesn't want us screaming nastiness about the guy that pays his check while the guy's sitting right there. He's not saying we can't scream nastiness, just not in his living room.

The truth is, they don't allow bashing of anybody here, not just vendors. If you start ranting and raving and calling plain ol' members names, the moderators will ask you to shut up just as quick. It's supposed to be a civil place, is all.

if you have such a big deal with censorship, you would have left a long time ago

I have NEVER bashed a Vendor either...........
Then what's the big deal with the fixation to bash a vendor now?

censorship is just not my bag...........
I would suggest you re-read my original post....and point out to me where I advocate censorship....

What gives you the right to demand that vendors be made fun of and be belittled?

I don't see where leaving accomplishes anything. Especially since he would LOSE any assistance he might need in the future. And I am also a Viet Nam vet and I don't see what that has to do with the operation of a forum. We didn't go to Nam to defend free speech. It wasn't the US Revolutionary war or anything even close to being as noble a cause as that. I'm sorry the guy is disabled, but again, what has that got to do with forum policy?

Now about that percentage thing...how low can you go before you get booted/banned? I mean, can you still have 1% and be on the boards? I think it would be kinda cool to be a 1%er. Sorta like living life on the edge. Would make you much more careful about what you posted too :D

:iagree:

Corvette Forum is a too valuable a resource to give up lightly. The collective knowledge, experience, and opinions of the members mean you can get prompt answers to your questions.

The moderators do a great job. Although some discussions get a little :boxing , there is knowledge to be gained by ALL interested parties. The hallmark for a board has got to be civility. The moderators protect that civility - the board does not decend into chaos.

Civil treatment of members/vendors on CF is not a free speech issue. The WWW provides a variety of places to post whatever you want - You could even start your own web site: http://www.CorvetteVendorsThatGiveMeProblems.com

If you order enough parts/services, at some point, you are bound to have a problem. The vendor/customer just have to resolve that problem. Most vendors jealously their reputation. It doesn't mean that problems never happen - the parties just have to resolve the issue.

Some problems are the result of a VENDOR screw up. Some problems are the result of a CUSTOMER screw up. What if one board on CF was for Vendors to bash customers?? I am sure these vendors could relate bonehead stories about customers that  :mad     :U :bs :nopity ... well you get the picture.

Corvette Forum is a too valuable a resource to give up lightly.

"I don't think that censorship is the goal of the moderators here. They do however, have an obligation to their customers (vendors) who subsidize this board which is otherwise free to you and me.

Often when people have a negative experience with a vendor, the tend to come here to rant and vent before they allow the vendor to rectify the problem. I'm sure that the forum owners do not want to support a bad vendor. If someone here has a problem with a vendor and they expect it to be handled with respect and civility, then that person should conduct themselves accordingly - that's all. "

I agree and would like to add that

George is just doing his job and the job he does is not an easy one.
Moderators cannot make everyone happy all the time on a forum.

And NO! I not kissing you know what, just a fact of forums like these.

 yep! Seriously though i dont think bashing vendors is cool. i try to think of my problems in a 3rd party view. For example, when i recieved a crappy rear bumper from ecklers i was very :mad , because it meant waiting even loger before the vette would be done. but i did the civil thing, and called ecklers. while shipping times were exactly the same on both bumpers (a month total)and the 2nd one wasnt great condition, but it was usable. turns out the waiting time on the bumpers matterd very little, and after it was installed and painted all i could, and still can say is, "Damn, it was worth the $$$ and wait." i love my rear bumper. Ecklers was very professional in the way they delt with the situation, and didnt charge me any more for shipping. so all in all, i am very happy with my Ecklers rear bumper. i didnt bash them when i recived the sub-standard bumper the first time, because i hadn't given them a chance to make it right yet. i have noticed that all the supporting vendors seem to give members a little more slack too. they are always offering GPs, discounts, and CF sales. i think its great having them support the forum.

P.S. Dep! we'll get some digital video of your vettes and i put a beach boys soundtrack to em. one condition though, i get to do the 150mph fly by!

I've been real lucky with my experience with vendors. Everything I have ordered has been exactly as advertised and any backorders came through very quickly. I'm knocking on wood as I type this ;)
I also appreciate their support of the forum as well as the effort put forth by the moderators...and I AM kissing butt :D I know I wouldn't want the job of moderator...I would have banned me ages ago for being disrespectful of the current crop of small block crate motors.
I don't go along with guys who consider the vendors as a "necessary evil". I think of them as a bonus, since, if I realize from reading a post on the forum that I need a certain part, I can just click on a vendor to the left and poof...I am there and the part is ordered.

On the digital video...it would have to be still shots. They are both in "storage mode" and not driveable :(

Looks like Bloomington Gold dates in 2003 are the same as the 50th in Nashville and Bowling Green. Anybody heard about a reschedule of Bloomington?

I think if some vendor is ripping people off or selling sub standard merchandise
we owe it to our friends here on the forum to warn them of this vendor.
I'm not just talking about the forum vender's but any vendor or even another member of the forum. And I don't mean a lot of swearing and getting vengeance just the facts of the problem and only after giving the vendor a fair chance to rectify the problem
