Default Dakota Digital Gauges

So today I finished the install of the Dakota Digital VHX system on my 77. I also upgraded the speedometer with the GPS Bim add on which controls the clock and the Speedometer. I just wanted to give a shout out about the ease of installation and how impressed with the outcome I am.
1. I do not work for nor do I sell any parts for Dakota Digital.
2. I am not a very electrically system savvy guy.
First I installed all the sensors on the engine, radiator and transmission. Then I ran the wires through the firewall to the location of the brain of the system. I then installed all the new gauges and ran the wires to the brain. This part included the removal of the printed circuit board for the center console gauges and the canceling of the original back lit bulbs that were no longer needed since the new gauges have internal lighting.
I installed the brain on the left side of the drivers side footwell behind the kick plate. The hardest part was using the included push buttons to program the particulars of my setup. After a few calls to the helpful guys in customer service I was able to get everything sorted out and operating properly. I love the backlit gauges and the overall look that this system adds to my car. I also get the benefit of digital gauges while retaining the look of the original analog gauges.
My hope with this post is to inform anyone that's tired of the fifty year old tired gauges and changing those little hard to get to bulbs. If you want new technology that looks original then there are options available.

Been looking. Just wish Dakota Digital would offer some extra optional gauges. Oil temperature. Fuel pressure. AFR.

On the HDX gauges you can program the screen to display all kinds of other info when paired with an EFI system, much nicer than having aftermarket gauges mounted to the dash.

Steve
I know they have been offering some new add on bim devices for the extra information. I added the GPS system that controls the speedometer and the clock. The bim system allows these devices to daisy chain so you can add I believe up to 16 devices. I'd give them a call they may have a solution for you.

I agree. There's so little room in these cars for extra anything. It is a nice clean look.
