Default Any one recognise this electrical component?

1970 Corvette Automatic

It sits just above the throttle pedal (see photo) its does not seem to be connected to any wiring as I you can see the two bare terminals, I just can't work out what it is, any ideas welcome?

Kind regards
Paul

It appears to be the Automatic Trans Control Switch

Yes it's the switch for a turbo 400 kick down

Also used on the FLUX- CAPACITOR for really fast time travel.

If you don't want it let me know by PM..

Of course being next to the pedal was a bit of a clue, should have thought of that!!!

So I can see two brass terminal blades: what connects to them, does anyone have a kick-down circuit diagram they could kindly provide as I could not spot it on my wiring diagrams.

Kind regards
Paul

If your '70 is like my '72, you should have a dedicated pair of (tan & orange) wires exiting the main engine wiring harness running across the engine side of the firewall. The wires are located going into the firewall through a 3 or 4 hole rubber grommet with the oil line, accelerator cable, and maybe another wire or two, above where that kickdown switch is located.

Half the time the pedal will not engage the switch, even though the AIM states the switch will self adjust after the pedal is pushed all the way to the floor. I the manual 73 cars, the switch will open the hood cowl woven when pedal is push to the floor. Mine never engaged and I bought a new one, still didn’t work. Finally I found a post sphere a large rubber hose was cut to make the shaft on the switch touch the accelerator pedal. I won’t say how many times I was upside down under the dash trying to make the stupid switch work. Ain’t this a great Hobby?
