Default Another intake question

I’ve been reading several intake threads as I debate swapping the intake on my ‘75 stock L48 but didn’t see anything that helps me me understand what to do with the air tube fed qJet choke.

My stock 75 L48 is in need of a top end refresh. As I’m tearing it down, I’m realizing how much cleaner it will be with something like an Edlebrock 7104. It’s a numbers matching car but it is a 75 so the purist in me needs to step back allowing the practical side to shine. I plan on retaining the qJet with a full rebuild by Lars.

So, how should I address the hot air tube choke? I’m not seeing provisions on the Edlebrock for the tube assembly.

When in doubt about a QJet, ask Lars!

I have a 78 L82 with an Edlebrock 7104 RPM and a recent rebuild qjet by Lars . I am using an Edelbrock choke kit especially for Qjet.

If you are not changing the heads.....run the 2101. It will allow you better air cleaner options.....the 7104 will fit but you have to use a drop base and a lot of times one defeats the purpose by installing too far of a drop.....which brings the lid right down on the Q-Jet airhorn.....not a good situation. The 2101 will support 375+ horsepower.......use a 1204 Fel Pro intake gasket to block the heat riser port, and convert to electric choke.
Team this with some long tube headers and a real exhaust plus a good distributor curve and you will see very nice gains.

Thanks Jebby! The 2101 wasn’t on my radar so you’ve saved me a lot of future frustration. The exhaust was opened up a couple years ago with the long term plan of improving f the intake. I plan on keeping the ram horns as they don’t flow that bad. The distributer upgrade was next step but May happen sooner.

on another note, we’re winter Texans - pointed the bow tie north and the pulled out of S Padre a week ago
