where is the bottom? bottom of pic? or left side? if bottom is left, move camera more toward the "bottom" and take a pic of the plastic the top clicks into. looks like it may have some broken off. if so, you may have to fire up a big soldering iron and plastic weld some meat back in. it would require disassembly of the whole cluster. and some searching the plastic casting for PPE or HDPE or any other plastic identifier so you can get the right stuff to build the area back up. unless somebody on here knows what plastic the cluster is made from?
Do you have calipers? Check the width of the small retention clip (bottom), in @bazza77's image. Compare to the slot for that part of the clip on the back of your instrument cluster.
Is the clip misaligned? Is the wiring harness OEM? Is the instrument cluster OEM (I don't think they make repros of this part).
Its a PITA
line it up..straight on don’t damage the connectors...
pull wire out as far as possible..
maybe some smaller hands
still easier than console

I am trying the old PCB this morning. Perhaps the instrument guy did something wrong? The plug fits fine, just not making proper contact. I think this car is haunted.
If you touch all the pins in the harness would the test light shine on all except the two grounds?
Well just like everything on this processed car only achieve partial success. I put on the OLD pcb and everything in the speedo pod except the left turn signal and bright light indicator bulb works. I'll settle with that. Both of my hands are a bloody mess and I've had a headache since I started. Took over a year and 6 mechanics to find a leaking caliper. This car, although I think it's beautiful, will be gone ASAP.
Hope it's not too late, Yes this connector is a pain. What I do is remove the inside of the glove box, then reach in from there to plug it in. Remember the sides are different to prevent it from going in wrong, so mark the side with the smaller "key" so you know what goes where. Good luck.
