Default side fresh air

On my 71 there is no fresh air door on driver side. Is there a way to add one? The whole structure seems to be missing no door or unit to mount it into to. Thanks

it never had one. I've never seen a C3 that does.

Does your car have A/C? Not sure but I think A/C cars did not have a vent on the drivers side kick panel but non A/C cars did.

Non-AC cars has the "astro" ventilation- fresh air- controlled by the sliders on the console.
In 77- later due to the console change- non AC cars had the sliders on the kick panels.

AC cars don't have the door assembly on the driver side- however have a vacuum operated one on the pass side,
Plus the rear doors on the back are non operational as well.

Thanks mine is a non AC car. The lever in the middle is there but no cable or anything there now. The fender was changed once before I got it and they must have left it off.

Here is a pic, but naturally this is the wrong side. The large oval shaped black vent flapper is visible here. There is a similar on in the driver side. The reason I picked this pic is it shows the vent is part of a large internal fiberglass piece which holds the fender on. It goes between the metal birdcage and the outer fender.

Sounds like yours got changed with a non AC piece during your fender repair. The black piece that holds the vent door is a separate part. I am unsure how this part is attached but I would assume bonded.

I can fully understand the need to want some additional airflow on your hot feet.

If I were you I would remove the interior kick panel piece by your ankle (after the metal door sill plate) and see what is behind it. If you are brave enough, it should/may be possible to add this "flapper door frame" piece back in from the inside of the car. I can give you good clear shots of mine if necessary, as my Non air car BB car is all dissasembled. The cable just runs under the steering column to the console.

This looks to be an AC car with the vacuum operated pass vent door. The vac canister can be seen up top.
