Default Turn Signal/Back lights

A newbie still trying to fix electrical issues on my 1975 coupe. I will try and explain my issue to the best of my ability so members can understand.
The Left tail light is extremely bright. The Right side seems normal. When I apply the brakes, the right side works properly but the left side does not change it just stays as bright as before. When I turn on the right directional, it works fine. When I turn on the left directional, the tail light remains bright and does not flash at all. I checked the bulbs and they are fine. I also noticed that when I turn on the left directional, it is not only the rear light not flashing but also the left front. The issue is the left side . I hope I explained my issue . I appreciate any input. Thanks

I would start by removing the tailight bulb, rotating the base 180 degrees, and reinstalling.

I checked the brakes, flashers and turn signal for both the right and left side with the lights turned off. Everything worked as it should. However, when I turn on lights, the left side rear light is still very bright and the directional do not work either on the front light or taillight

Sounds like your tail lights are shorting to the brake lights. If your car is stock you have but one tail/brake light per side. Remove the bulb from tail light. turn on your lights and see if the front signal is now working correctly. then get back to us.
Also, concider investing in the Genuine GM Electrical Troubleshooting Manual. It breaks down every individual circut in the car. It's like Corvette wiring for dummies.

Okay, I fixed part of the problem, but still have a little bit of an issue. The one taillight being brighter then the other was caused by a wrong bulb. It was a 1157LL vs a 1157.
changed bulb and now taillights are the same. Directional with no lights on work perfectly. Both on the right and left side. Turn on lights and tail lights are working and now the the left directional now works, which it didn't before. However, although they are working, the speed of the directional signal slows down drastically. Also left brake light works periodically with lights on or off.

Wll I think I may have figured it all out. First it was t he wrong bulb that caused the left taillight to be brighter, then I decided to change out the flasher relay. Now it seems like everything is working the way it should. Could the flasher relay caused these problems?

Flasher relays do go bad. However, wouldn't cause the brake light to come on intermittently. I would be looking close at the socket and the wiring going into it.

that was an 1157 long life bulb. still an 1157. may well be a bad ground on the left rear.
