Seem to have a leak because car when warm rpm changes as motor gets warmer. Where might it be because i used my propane torch and no increase or decrease in rpm, just a steady rise. A 500 rpm rise from start is crazy. I am thinking it is the Rochester carburetor , what internaly would change and this happen on two rebuilt carburetors.
Choke opens fully! I did find blockage in the line that comes from the canister that traps fumes and burns them off in the carburetor. It was a vacumn plug wedged in the 3/8 line. I wonder if this is why i have a strong eye burning odor when car is at idle and accelerated? Any comments welcomed!
when i do an intake, i silicone the head side of water passages and set gasket on the china wall gaskets. drop manifold on dry and let silicone cure. pull intake and you get to be SURE the gasket is where it belongs. then remove china wall gaskets and do a bead of silicone and close it up. glastonbury. i used to live 2 houses south of the rt 3 bridge. house isn't there anymore, i hear.
Vacuum leaks can and will cause a high idle. try plugging off all vacuum lines first, (just to test, not drive). get engine warm and see if engine will idle. If the problem is still there, And idle screw on carb is backed way out, throttle blades are totally closed. Then I would pull the intake.
also a hunk of hose. 3/8 to half inch. stick one end in your ear and go hunting with the other end. i found a bad vac leak on a vortec upper intake where i effed up installing it over the efi spider. you will hear the hissing loudly when pointed at the leak.
