Well as i have posted in some other posts, this is turning into a full resto. WHERE DOES IT STOP!!. Purchased a new radiator support from T.F. for my 72 base 350 4spd with A/C convertible.
First off, I do not believe my old support had any shims on the bolts. Anyone else have this?
Secondly, I went to install the new support and looks to me the bolts holes are about 1/4" too high. The new one was also too wide in some spots by about 1/2". I had to use a rubber mallet to tap in the flanges a bit.
I am thinking now with the new one I may have to install some shims. I want to reinstall it as I am planning to lift the body. It also seems to not sit correctly on bottom brace. Almost need to trim out some of the metal on the support.
2 possibilities. crappy rad support or your car has dropped that much. the inner fenders have an L bracket each that hold up the whole front of the nose and the headlight assys. the glass inner fenders can crack, sag, have the rivets holes get egg shaped... kind of like a 50 year old with a great rack. "this new bra is up too high!"
