Well, I'm in parking brake hell. Despite many posts suggesting to just leave this alone it really bothered me that it didn't work and I set out to fix it with a stainless kit.
I had no real issue with the cables, shoes, springs etc. but the L shaped lever that the rear cable connects to has got me confounded. I'm assuming the two parts of the L shape move independently of each each other. Mine are rusted solid and no amount of PB Blaster is going to fix it so they have to come out. My problem is that I can see no way to remove it back through the backing plate and I fear the only way to get it out is to remove the axle. Someone PLEASE say it isn't so!

Help gratefully appreciated.
You may find something in here. Btw, it always helps to post a picture of your issue(s) on the Corvette.
Thanks for the reply Caskiguy - makes total sense on the pics, thanks for the tip! Coincidentally ZIP Corvette sent me that same video, they must have seen that I'd ordered the parking brake kit. I learned that the "L" shaped piece I referred to is actually two pieces called the lever and strut and that they are held together with a pin and e-clip. Once separated they can be installed through the backing plate. Mine were so rusted together that they appeared to be one inseparable piece. Wow! How many times does a job actually end up being easier than expected on a C3?
