Does anyone know if the rocker panels need to be removed in order to lift the body off the frame a few inches on a 1980?
I'm doing body mounts and plan to the lift the body a few inches one side at a time. Through this forum I've got a pretty good overview of what needs to be detached between body and frame but the later C3's were different to earlier generation (a lot of the advice here is early '70's) and it's unclear about the rocker panels on an '80.
(Note that I'm referring to the rocker panel not the rocker covers)
I don't believe you have to remove them for your project. I'll be anticipating replies from the experts along with you, as I too want to replace all of the body mounts on my '80.

Thank you. I plan to document the work this weekend, if there is anything I can do to help you let me know.
No, you don't have to remove them. I did a complete frame-off on my 1980.

Thanks Richard, much appreciated. Would it be pushing the friendship to ask if you removed your front and rear bumper covers? I will likely remove the front bumper cover as it will make it easer to rebuild the headlights and clean up the valance/air dam. Maybe loosen the rear?
