The blade just seems to be loose in side the white plastic. I wonder if sticking a flat screwdriver in could tighten it. But maybe the looseness isn't the problem, just a symptom?
I have a brand new NOS switch in my hand, there is very little movement.
The little movement I am getting is because I'm holding the solenoid and trying to move the blades.
When you pulled the cover there was a second screw inside securing the switch correct?
The park blade is the only one that I can move while holding the unit. When the cover was on, the attached three-wire clip could be pushed left and right, and the wipers only worked when I pushed the connectors toward the left (passenger side) and held it there. When I let go, the wipers stopped whereever they were. There was one screw holding the switch through the white plastic, above where the ground blade screw goes into the white plastic.
So yes 2 attaching screws.
You can try and tighten it up but not sure where?
Could you fill the slop around blades to plastic area with some silicone and let it cure to remove movement?
Through various tightenings of the connectors and wedging, I've got it in a position where it works even if I push on the 3 wire harness. Ultimate test will be a bumpy ride. Thank you again.
In the future if the switch needs to be replaced de-soldiering and re-soldiering the 2 wires will be easiest if you remove the motor and do it on the bench (3 bolts).
Heat and tin each contact tab of the new switch with a little solider.
Reheat and insert wire through the hole of the tab.
Reheat again and add a dab more solider for a nice secure connection.
You are far better off replacing the $30.00 switch vs. a CHINA made $100.00 motor.
And the best benefit, you have gained new soldering skills...
Good Luck!
