Trying to time my '81 and my timing mark isn't anywhere near where it should be. can't find the wire harness I disconnect to take the CCC out of the loop. Could someone please give me a good description, pic or diagram? Going crazy here. Thanks!
Believe I found it! wires running to the bottom of the distributor, facing the firewall, right? As I tried to remove the wires the plastic piece fell apart, wires are still in there but missing the top of the retaining piece. Crap!
Just use a wire tie to hold the 2 connectors together until you have a chance to replace it.
Thanks for the wire tie tip!
I found the other end of the connector, much easier to take loose there than pull it from the Distributor. it's still staying together for now, plan on getting a vacuum advance distributor and non computer carb and swapping them out this week.
Also, checked timing with the computer unhooked, I can see the mark now but it's towards the bottom of the balancer, not even close to where it should be. car starts easy, actually runs ok but at times idle gets super rough and surges. Plan is to eventually toss a crate in it, so I think if I replace the distributor and carb right now I can always move those pieces to a new motor, and would have to replace them anyways.
