The other thing I saw in the receipts he gave me was that the crank and pistons were a kit which CAME with the correct width bearings. They were A bearings, but they were right for the crank. He probably threw them out and put the Clevites in and thought he was super cool for doing so.

This person ran the P bearing because it is half the cost of the H.....which I don't use anymore either....I use King now.
The H bearings went up about 70% overnight back in 07'........and they are the same damn bearing with the chamfer cut on them.....
King bearings are one of the last performance bargains left....

King is the manufacturer of the bearings for Hyundai/Kia Theta Engines if I am not mistaken.....the ones that like to lock up from rod/main bearing problems.. I have always looked elsewhere because of that. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure when I worked for Hyundai that is what I was told

I doubt very highly that the bearings are the cause of an engine locking up. The bearing would literally have to come apart while running......
I have been using King since Clevite got proud of their **** and have had nothing but success.......

I bought King HP +.001 bearings recently. They were $100 for the full set. Narrower and .001" oversize. I trust they will get the job done.

Clevite coated were much more $$$ and availabillity was crap. I guess I dont need them.

I did speak to a Hyundai master tech this morning. They were made by King to Hyundai/Kia specification and they are the coated bearings. The coating used flakes off and tears things up inside the engine. I don't know much more than that on it. I run a lot of claims a week on the Theta engines, only ones that don't grenade are ones using oil with a higher molydisulfide content. The rest are timebombs. Which is sad because they make a nice budget product otherwise.

King bearings for American V8's are not coated.

Do they not offer a line with the coatings? I was browsing online and one or two of the manufacturers does now. I thought to myself I would not be using that in mine
