Default Air Tools

A couple of years ago I installed a 60 gallon compressor and love it! Yesterday I was looking at a rotary cutoff tool to use for not only cutting bolts and metal but also cutting my dogs beef bones....I like to do multi-use investments.

Now, I have a die grinder but I don't believe the chuck is wide enough for the shaft of the rotary cutoff bit and doesn't have that cute protective shield.

Anyone adapt their die grinder or should I just tell Santa "I really need a rotary cutoff tool?"

Hi:

I think Die Grinders/Cuttoff Tools will take two different size mandrill. Most of these tools come with an adapter. You can get the proper size mandrill for your tool and and install the cutoff disc on it. In my opinion the Die-grinder is a more useful tool if you only can have one. But you can never have too many tools, buy both.

Yes you can get a mandrel for the die grinder and it will work for very small cutting tasks, but the cut off tool has much more power and will do a better more controlled job. I tried the die grinder/ mandrel and bought the cutoff tool. Much better. Craig

Harbor Freight has them for about $15, $10 or so when on sale (every couple months). Mine works great but does use a lot of air. You large compressor should do fine.

Your note going to believe this...but then maybe you will. I was talking with my pool partner who helped me install the compressor and who we do auto projects from time to time. Well, I told him I was looking at these rotary cutoff tools on Saturday.

Yesterday (sunday) he came over to take in NFL Sunday games and gave me an Xmas present he had been holding onto for about a month until he heard me talking and shopping for a rotary cutoff tool

Wouldn't you know it...it was a rotary cutoff tool! He knew I would probably go out and get one and wanted to beat me to the punch...cool!
