Default Seat Hinges

Anyone have a source for NEW passenger side seat hinges for a 1982? Multiple years may fit but not sure which ones would.

Dang, If you only had a '71. I'm in the process of putting Fiero seats in my '71 and will have a set of original seat frames for sale soon.

79-82 hinges are the same. As far as I know, there is no one making new ones yet. Hopefully somebody is that I don't know about yet.

Default 1982 Collector's Edition

I am not sure those would fit an '82. I haven't taken the seat out yet to know for sure.

Those are for the earlier Vettes and will not work for the 79-82. This is what they look like.

What happened to your original hinges? I know used ones should be easy to find.

They are bent I believe. The seat reclines way too much to the point that the passenger feels uncomfortable riding in the seat.

Check the bumpers on the rear of the seat bottom. My 69, they were both broken, crushed and otherwise damaged. Replaced them and not the seat sets up like it should.

Might be the fiberglass is cracked. The glass is much weaker than the hinges. I had to replace my seat back years ago when the glass got cracked. I still have the spare used hinges somewhere around here in a box. I would advise you to disassemble the seat back to see what is wrong before you go out and buy hinges. The clam shell seat hinges are pretty stout so they seldom fail.

Exactly what I was going to suggest next. The seat shells are known to crack. 👍
