Perhaps over thinking this but the motor is out of the car, so I have no reference to go by. Looking to run a 4 awg wire along with the original battery cable. I was thinking of placing the aux fuse panel on the left side inner fender. I considered running the wire along the top of the transmission tunnel with the intent to hide it but I then started to wonder if there was gonna be enough room. Overthinking it or do you have better suggestions?
I needed a panel so I could fuse my much higher output Alternator, my twin electric fans and my headlight relays. mounted it on forward side of passenger footwell, just behind the starter.
This is it with the cover off. You can see main positive Battery cable on it's way to the starter. then to the top of the blade fuse box, a cable more than capable of handling 250 amps. (About the size of a Harley battery cable) . And 3 blade type fuses. I had tried circuit breakers previously. But they didn't like the heat down there. this set-up has been working great.
i believe the battery cable is just fine. you do not need to run a smaller line along it. just connect the new line at the starter lug. you will not be running cooling fans or anything else during the 1 to 5 seconds the engine is cranking.

If you need 4 gauge to power stuff, then you need to update the alternator and wiring from the alternator to the starter solenoid. Once you do that, you might as well just tie the aux fuse block into that charging wire.
