Default Dir Sig Backup Fuse blowing

1971 coupe
350 GM Goodwrench block w/ stoker kit 383ci
Edelbrock Performer RPM 60899 Heads
M20 trans
Edelbrock victor jr intake
Brawler 680 carb
MSD Billet Distributor with GM HEI module
Summit 850500 40000v .4ohm coil

Fuse keeps blowing. I thought it was related to an ignition issue - the HEi module and coil were running from the IGN terminal on the fuse block. But I switched the ignition back to the old resistance wire and the Dir Sig Backup fuse is still blowing. I have been through half a dozen or so. The backup light pink wire is disconnected and hanging free. I pulled it away from the frame and taped it off until I can fix correctly. No where near where it can ground, but could be issue. Other strange symptoms. Fuse does not always blow right away, although it is getting more frequent. Right turn signal flashes fast a few times, then normal. Also, when I put the fuse in, the starter seems to kick for a split second - the car jumps forward a little. Any thoughts?

Is the starter a stock Delco starter?
If not, what is it and how is it wired?
