Default 82/84 crossfire high performance injector info

Well, with my new tune that I will be developing to get to 11s, I decided that I might as well look for some new injectors. Rock Auto had what they said is 90.77# injectors which are the SMP, TJ11 injectors. I didn't believe that number, but I bought them anyway and would test them out. I took them over to an injector shop that I use for testing various injectors and had them flow test these brand new TJ11 injectors. Here is what they said...

Standard Motor Products - TJ11 Injector:
@ 13psi flows 80#phr
@15psi flows 90.5#phr
I had heard, but have not verified it yet, that RA above had them tested at 14.75psi to get 90.77# I think they are off a little. My shop checked these numbers several times as well to make sure.

So, with that said, these are really 80# injectors like I thought they might be and if you happen to use the EBL system, the BPC utility they supply is calculated @ 0.45 BSFC and @ 85% of inj DC at WOT and whatever you put as the FP will give you the approx value of HP the injectors can support at WOT. So if you have a high strung 355, 358, 377 motor or a 383 or higher cube CFI motor, it would be best to use these injectors as a 80# and raise the FP to what you need. That is what I intend on doing with these at 90# and we shall see how that all goes and how they perform. At the pressure that I plan on running and the cfm of the TBs, It will support 500hp+.

I hope this helps out anybody out there that was wondering which injector to use with their EBL setup if not stock and is looking to get around 400hp or so. BTW, there are a few other things to consider if you decide to use these injectors. You can NOT use the stock FPR on the rear TB. The pressure you will need to run WILL blow the diaphragms. You MUST run a FPR blank-off plate and remove BOTH TB diaphragms and then run a parallel plumb fuel system that is externally regulated and vacuum referenced. If you need help with theis, PM me.

Currently, the cfm I'm running is 775cfm, but I have another project to give me more and looking for about 850. I put my current bored TBs on my friends flow bench and that is what they flowed @28".

Thank you for the update on sensor. Did you hear that Hal, it's on the way.

UPDATE: On CFI Project...11s, all motor.

Recently, a few of us got together and developed a stock 82/84 tune that runs VERY nicely and was tested on three different 82 motors. This stock tune has not ever been available until now for the CF community. Instead of creating a new tune from scratch, I'm going to be using the stock CFI tune already created and modding it as needed for my 383. Today, I uploaded the modified tune and on a cold start, it fired right up, went to 1,200 rpm fast idle and came off and settled in at 900-950rpm. The idle rpm was purposely set to 900rpm for this starter BIN for now. When done, the idle will be set to 850. Anyway, it idled like a kitten purring and I was VERY surprised how well it ran on a first try starter BIN. The VE tables look great as well. It is a tad fat, (13.5 AFR) but that was done purposely as well. I did a quick short datalog and 5% has already been pulled out of the VE tables along with a couple other items changed and will get re-uploaded. The timing is at 12* Initial and 21* SA Idle State. The datalogging will start soon, but first my new vacuum pump is going in this week.

I'm also boring out one set of TBs to 2.25" which should give the cfm needed to achieve my goal of into the 11s. This set of TBs will also have the stock balancing ports cut into them as well to balance the TBs perfectly along with a complete overall and bushing job. The new 90# injectors are going in those as well and set to 30psi. The temps are going crazy here in Arizona at 116* today and 118* for the rest of the week. Ugh! I'm only going to get to datalog in the evenings since it's so hot already. So the progress may be a little slower than I would like, but I WILL Git Er Dun and post up how it is going/moving along.

UPDATE: Making progress on the new tune. The VE low speed and high speed tables are almost done and looking pretty good. It revs pretty fast right now which makes me happy. Added just a little power to it to see how she would react and it likes it for sure. The temps here are brutal right now and the tuning may stop for a couple months and pickup again later in a few months. Even with very high temps here and me only doing the data-logging in the evenings at 105*, the motor temps are staying at 179* which is awesome. Here is the low speed VE table and looking pretty good along with the high speed table, nice transitions now all the way up. This is Bin10 so far and haven't data-logged this bin yet. These are the changes from bin9. The new TB project is moving forward, but had to wait on some parts to continue. More on that as it develops.
