Rear axle noise?
My 72 C3 makes a clunking noise when I'm backing up and feels like something is binding up. I checked the
drive and 1/2 shaft uni joints and nothing seems loose. Any ideas? Rear gears? Posi unit?
I know its not much to go on. Anything else can I check?

could be the snubber bushing being worn, many times the pinion seal leaks oil on it. Posi chatter typically shows up when you take a turn and side load a clutch pack. You can try a simple oil change with 2 bottles of posi additive. If the clunk is direct in the diff and consistent then you might want to remove the diff and the cover for inspection.
