Default Help needed identifying an unterminated wire

I think I need to stop looking underneath my car. Every time I do I find another wire dangling free.

The wire in the photo below originates in a main wiring harness between the distributor RF shield and upper firewall. The unterminated end of the wire hangs down alongside the oil filter and has a a male spade connector set in a rubber mount., There is a metal bracket welded to the firewall just below where the steering column passes through that the rubber mount seems to fit into but I don't know if that is just coincidence or its home. There is no sign of the wire or fitting that provides the female end of the spade connector either topside or underside where the wire is dangling down. Any idea what this is?

This green wire hangs down alongside the oil filter and originates in a wiring harness higher up between the distributor RF shield and the firewall. It has a male spade connector set in a rubber mount. What is it?

The mounting bracket in the upper left of picture is attached to the firewall below the steering column. It looks like the rubber mount of the loose wire *might* push into the hole in this bracket but don't really know.

Put a rubber plug on the spade/or wrap with electricians tape to prevent a short just in case the wire has voltage or gets voltage when the key is turned ON.

Well....there's the female connector exiting the harness on the right side of the pic.
Floydy....can you find that sub-harness tucked away at or near your transmission case connector?
Unless someone has rewired your transmission wiring, the Lock-up will not engage on your torque convertor.

I was hoping to rejuvenate this thread. I've looked at all of the suggestions and none play out.

I don't think its for the Transmission Control Jumper / Torque Converter Lock out as it appears I have the TH350 transmission not the TH350C. The TH350 is a non lockout version. I say this because I have a 9" diameter tail shaft and no sign of the electronic connector on the drivers side of the box. The brake proportioning valve sensor wire is in place as is the oil pressure. The reversing light switch does look similar but has two spade connectors at a T angle, the mystery wire has only one connector. A passing thought was that it was for an O2 sensor but I can't really verify that.

So... I'm still flummoxed as to what this single spade connector encased in a rubber grommet is for and would love to solve it before I put the car back together. Below is an additional picture taken from above (I pulled the wire up through to the top of engine). The shiny plastic surface behind is the RF shield on the distributor and the right side of the picture is the firewall. The mystery wire has a 2 pin connector spliced in about 10" down from the spade connector (also not connected to anything) that becomes a green and a brown wire before it disappears into the main harness on the firewall below the wiper motor.
