Default 75 HEI Distributor specs

I have a 71 that I did a Pertronics ignition conversion on and began to have problems with until a recent hard failure. I converted to an after-market HEI Distributor which is fantastic and problem free. I now want to convert to a 75 Ignition shield and bracket set to look closer to original but want to be sure it will still fit.

Does anyone know the diameter of the 75 HEI Distributor so I can compare to what I now have and verify that it will fit? I'm pretty confident it will but just in case....................

They are all the same size regardless of where they come from......the 75' HEI cap was the same for over 10 years in GM and 45 years in the aftermarket as it is a "replacement" part.....

is the aftermarket HEI the big cap with the coil on top? there are some others that are smaller cap and seperate coil, but call themselves HEI. if cap looks like this, https://www.ebay.com/itm/26428520803...8AAOSwVKhctRac the 75 shield will fit. these... https://www.ebay.com/itm/31300767425...Cclp%3A2047675 are the diameter of your orig points setup, but i think a little taller than the orig so that cover may not fit.

Thanks,

I didn’t think of it that way. Actually makes common sense when you think on for a minute.

I thin the challenge will be the wiper motor.

I think a 75 upper shield is the right approach but it may require a custom relief cut to accommodate the wiper motor.

it appears to be slightly more proud from the firewall on a 71 compared to a 75.

still no big deal

thanks much

i will try to get hood up and a pic of my wiper motor and shield on my 75 today. and a few shots of a 75 shield so you can ponder chopping out whatever part interferes.
