Since I broke my rearend a week ago and I recently purchased a '94 S15 Jimmy for a project, I have decided to put the Vette on the shelf for a couple of years. I plan on taking the motor and trans out of the Vette and putting it in the Jimmy. After that project is completed I want to put a 427 small block, 4L80E, and a beefier rear (still independent) in my Vette. My original plan was to put the 427 in the Jimmy but the series of events convinced me the Vette needs to be the quickest of the two. Besides, 3 years ago I won the headsup streetcar race at the local dragstrip with a 7.56. This year the winner, an S10 won with a 6.56 (eighth mile). There's a few street driven Mustangs out there running mid to hi 6's. I want my Vette back in the hunt. It may take a while (budget concerns) but when it's done it'll be brutal! AND still street driven. I hope some of you are still around in a couple of years when I need advice on my rearend setup and putting a 4L80E in a C3. I'm not leaving the forum, I just won't be driving my Vette.
I had a friend who tried to fit a 427 in his 98 S10, and it wouldn't fit so he had to build a tube frame for it work. Something to think about
Best of luck to you.
Sounds like you already have a pretty good plan "keep the vette faster" :yesnod: . I just hope you don't end up growing apart from your beautiful vette from not spending much time with her ;) .
I just noticed the 1.509 60' time in your sig... Did you pull this 60' time with the stock rear end????? No wonder it broke - that's a insane 60' time.    .. Good Luck for your projects!!!
Don't worry, the Vette will always be #1 with me. I am anxious to see what the Jimmy will run with the Vette drivetrain in it. I will post times when I finally run it. I don't plan on starting the swap until I have sold the 4.3 Vortec and the 4L60E currently in the Jimmy. And yes! I did have the stock rearend during 3 years of abuse including bunches of 1.5's and 1.6's on N2O off the line. It has even pulled the driver's wheel on occasion. I guess it was inevitable. :steering:

he didnt try hard enough. i saw a 94+ s10 at wyotech last year, it had the front clipped removed and sitting on the stock frame was a BBC i know the motor mounts were custom, and alot of work went into it, but it looked great. i also read about a early 90s S10 in my area that had a 454 in it. he said he had to do everything custom, but it was worth it.
a buddy and i are working on a 91 S10. its beat to hell, but the 4cyl and t-5 are out. the sbc we get for it will fit no-prob.
