Power steering pump installation help needed
1972 350 - I've had to remove the PS pump to take care of some other issues (I didn't really want to remove it, but I've disconnected the hoses and it's out of the car, and I've given the driver's side control arm a fresh coating of PS fluid for good measure).
I tried maneuvering it back into position in it's cradle bracket and adjusting bracket with the hoses in place, but that didn't work, so I removed the hoses and made a mess under the car. Yay. Like I wanted another thing to do...
Along the line, I lost the lower front bolt that hides behind the pulley. See picture -
Does anyone have a size for that bolt? Or should I say 'cap screw'...
I have the AIM, GM parts catalogs, vendor catalogs and all sorts of other resources, none of which I have access to right now. My 'library' is all boxed up and buried in another room of the house as we have emptied a number of rooms to have new flooring installed. Also, I haven't tried this yet, but with the pump free and disconnected from it's hoses, will it easily mount into it's cradle support and adjustment support while they are mounted to the block? Or will I need to loosen/remove something? After PS fluid started appearing all sorts of places I didn't want to see it, I pulled the plug on the day's work, to go at it fresh tomorrow.
TIA, as always,
Larry
