I going to replace the two center dash vents and I got all the screws out but the button on the wiper control is not wanting to come off. Is it suppose to just pull off? I can move it out some but I do not want to break it.
Sometimes GM uses a tiny screw on the underside of the button/**** to hold it in place....see if your button has one.
It is also possible that the wiper switch is attached to the back of the vent-surround...you might not need to remove the button....everything might slide out as an assembly (that is attached to a wiring bundle and to ductwork)

So it was a really easy job to replace the center venters. Yes the whole panel comes off with 5 screws and no need to take off windshield wiper ****. The there are three 1/4 inch bolts that hold the vents in take those out pull the old ones and put in the new ones. You can unplug the wipes with a connector but with a extra hand and maybe to cuss words it was a piece of cake.
