Default Radiator Air Dam?

When I deleted the ecm carb and dist, I also put in a new aluminum radiator. I'm trying to find a clean way to fill the space between the top of the radiator and the frame. (See pic) About 28" long by 2" by 1.5". I can't find any rubber dense enough to replace the original. Any ideas or where I can find original type of rubber? (See Pic)

I used hot water heater pipe round tubing. Black. It wedges in nice and is heat resistant. Home depot

Armaflex insulation works too, but it's pricey.

Go to Lowes and look in the garage door weather strip sealing area. They have a high density foam that comes collapsed in a roll. When you peel the tape it is self sticky on one side and will expand to fill the gap. I think I found a roll that was close to 2 inches thick. Worked perfectly and filled in all the gaps. It will take a good couple of hours to fully expand

Without the cold air intake installed you will need to fill that gap.
Your car originally had the smaller radiator core.
This photo is the correct measurements for the RH side upper support seal using the cold air intake.
The correct width and height of your original seal: Width 1-3/8" Height 1-7/8"
The only difference when using the cold air intake between LH and RH is the length.
7-1/4" LH side 5" RH side.
The parts catalog only list the LH side for a 82.
It is GM #379987

Same here as well... I do question whether the foam really needs to be there though. Without the CAI the cool air will still blow through there and possibly provide some cooler air for the air cleaner. I recently put a dual temp sensor gauge in my car and one of those sensors is inside of my air cleaner. I am surprised at how well the vents at the cowl area of my hood along with the cowl opening work to provide cooler air to my engine. I see the temps climb while sitting at stop lights over 100 and then when im moving at a decent speed the temps slowly drop back down to a few degrees over ambient. almost makes me regret ordering that backordered L88 fresh air box.

Also the side support seals part number is superseded to GM #14016160
75-77 All
78-81 (EXC. A.C., H.D. RAD (V01)
80-82 All
Parts catalog really confusing...
Cut to length,
Width 7/8" Height 7/8"

so, the cold air intake pulls from the gap between the top of radiator and the rad support? i thought it pulled from above the rad support. so, when ac is running, it is not-so-cold air intake. how wide is the gap between the rad support and bottom of the hood?

Good to know.
Once I get my new engine dropped in and the new hood installed, I will measure everything to see if one will work with my setup.

swapping over to C5 shroud and fans. yesterday i climbed under with rad, etc removed. looks like i can fit my fingers through the gap above the radiator support and below the hood. that may be another gap we should close off.
