Help  Comming home to night I noticed a loud "clicking" noise comming from the rear end .... seems to go away once I reach about 40 or more mph. If I stay below 15mph it does not happen... Any ideas ?
its the rotator disc in the linear rotating assembly. i think your chrome-go-fasters are going out. you may want to have the free line actuator checked too. :jester
sounds like your due for a rear gear oil change to me.

   I was so :cuss off thinking it was something major I didn't even catch what you said until
now  I'll tear into it this weekend. Thanks
 rear gears always sound horrid when they need oil. Corvette Fever has a great article about making the rear end easy to drain. remeber to get a couple tubes of posi-lube.
Re: Help !! Loud "clicking" noise... ('79ProwlerOrange)
I had the same thing happen to me. After ages checking everything out, it turned out to be the brake pads in the rear d.side picking up on the rotor & rattling backwards & forwards in the caliper. Result was a loud click once every wheel revolution. I fitted stainless pad retaining pins which cured the problem for a few miles, then it started again. I've now got some thin metal strips cut out & shaped around the leading & trailing edge of the pads & the noise has stopped. Can't think of any other way of stopping the pads from moving, so the strips are staying in place (Hey, my middle name is Bubba!).
Before you go tearing into the rear end it would be worth checking for the pads moving. Just remove the wheel, grab a pad & try to rock it backwards & forwards in the caliper. If it sounds like the noise you're hearing, only a lot quieter, then that could be your problem. If not, then you've only had to take a wheel off to find out :)
Good luck
