Hello, I have installed the new carpet in my 1982 corvette. Now I need to know if the seat brackets are factory on top of the carpet with the bolt holes poked through or do they need to be cut and laid under the carpet. Thanks
When I replaced my original carpet it had a little flappy thing cut where the bolts go:
I eliminated the flappy thing on my back bolts when I did my Fiero seat swap. It was getting in my way and you can't really see the back bolts anyway. I left the flappy things up front and used a little contact cement after I installed the seats. Works well.
I think Wilcox Corvette had a diagram. If not, it might be in the Assembly Manual.
My seats are in and out a lot, so I didn't bother with the flaps. I stuck nails though the bolt holes for alignment, then heated up a 1/2" copper pipe with a torch, and burned clearance circles for the bolts.
