Default Odd-ball trivia question

I am flipping through my Max performance chevy smallblocks on a budget book by david vizard.

on page 121 there is a supercharged engine. Its supercharger has a weber carb on either side of it. Not on top like most superchargers I have seen. Any Ideas what it is and where I might appropriate one?

Guru,

I don't have the book or picture, but from what you are describing, it sounds like someone has simply put in side-draught Webers in.

Chevy-only guys might not be aware, but many carbs are side-draught, meaning the manifold has them sending in fuel and air from the side, rather than top-draught like Carters, Rochesters and Holleys.

It is possible to have side-draughts on both sides of an engine. It is not uncommon to see 12 cylinder Italian cars with up to 6 carbs, three on each side (or all 6 running along the top, as in many of the Ferrari endurance racers.)

You can get side draught Webers on ebay or at any european race shop, the trick will be fabricating a manifold to support these carbs.

In tomorrow's lesson, we'll discuss carbs that require the owner to fill the dashpots with oil, such as SUs :)

Hope this helps.
Sam

As I look closer it actually looks like 2 small careurated blowers mounted sideways with a speacial adapter for the webers like a really small version of merlins setup but with the blowers at a steeper angle and much much smaller

What is this- stump the experts or should that be stump the Gurus.
Don't have the book so don't have the pic.

This should do it anyway. That's probably the Magnacharger. Jerry combined 2 superchargers 110 to make 1 the MC 220 a long time ago.
