Due to the cost and complexity of install I personally would not vs just fixing or replacing a carb.
What is wrong with the carb on it?
If it's a Q-jet send it to Lars. You'll pay once and be trouble free after that.
Depends on what you want.
1. Just want a car that runs well and other folks do your maintenance/work/tuning, then stick the carb.
2. If you like to play with the car and you are REALLY interested in trying EFI -- then just go for it.
I like to play and I've had like 4 variations of EFI since like the 90s starting with the Holley Analog Pro-Jection, also GM MEFI, GM 730 ECM, and now FAST EZ-EFI 2.0.
To tell you the truth I could have stuck with my carb and would have had more driving time..... but I like to play.
The engine has been reworked and the carb on it is for a 1986 Camaro. I purchased the car as is.
A stock 1986 Camaro carburetor will not work on a 1973 Corvette because the carburetor was intended to work with an O2 sensor and ECM.
Did you personally confirm what kind of carburetor you have or you are just stating what the seller told you?
Can you post a picture of the carburetor?
A carb will make just as much power as a properly tuned EFI system will. The advantage of EFI is part throttle "efficiency".
However - installing aftermarket EFI is not a super easy job - you need higher fuel pressure - so a different (electric) pump is needed. You almost certainly will also need a fuel return line to the tank. Then you are almost certainly going to need to install one or two oxygen sensors to provide feedback to the computer. If the computer is going to control timing - a different distributor is required. None of this is that hard to do - but it's a LOT harder than changing a carb.

That number (#7073202) Quadrajet is a little confusing according to this article on Qjets and a 86? Maybe somebody with much more knowledge on Qjets ( like Lars or Jebby) can shed some light. Qjet IDs

I put a fast system on my big block chevelle, if you want to go that way get a proper in tank fuel pump setup, hindsight I would have put the money elsewhere

I would try to get the Quadrajet fixed first since it will only cost aobut $300 bucks to have Lars go through it. Other wise your going to be into tit around $1500 because you dont want to use the stock intake and you need the EFI, fuel pump, 2 filters, EFI fuel line, plus fittings. NOt to mention any add ons like the O2 sensor and possible ignition changes
And as much trouble EFI is. it's soooo much nicer. Can't seem to get mine dialed in at full throttle at the moment, but everything from cold starts to drivability to fuel economy is Sooooo much better. I vote EFI. in spite of the initial investment. I threw my Quadrajet years ago, and never went looking for it. replaced it with a Holley and a different intake manifold. Car never ran better, then replaced with EFI a couple years ago.
LS swap it! I've had carbs (prosystem 1,0000cfm race style with billet blocks), FAST EZ EFI 2.0 (noticable upgrade to the carb), Stock LS PCM EFI with hp tuners when I swapped to LS (worked but annoying to tune unless you keep it fairly stock or pay for a tune), Fitech ultimate LS EFI (big upgrade from the factory LS ECM) but wonky system and now I run holley terminator X EFI and its better than the fitech EFI and easy to tune yourself (more user friendly and features).
I run a $250 5.3 long block, $200 summit cam, factory 5.3 truck accessories and $30 engine adapter plates, stock tank with 80-82 sender and walbro 255lph $180 total. Holley EFI is $900 and plug and play. $100 ebay LS hugger headers and connect to factory exhaust and you could upgrade to 400hp knock down 20+mpg and have full turn key sequential EFI for $1660 give or take. Keep the factory cam and save $200-300 and make 350hp ish but be light years ahead in the technology department (ease of working on) and basically no leaks ever lol. Mounting up to a SBC auto trans is super easy all you need is a $10 pilot adapter and slot the converter holes depending on your setup. Add boost and make 2x the hp and not need to touch the motor.
Just saying..... idk how much a carb costs that's tuned but I'm sure its less than the above. LS swaps don't have to be aluminum 427s or $7500+ crate motors

You should do a write up and post some pictures of your swap. Swaps using factory parts are awesome! 👍
