Default cooling fan wiring

I'm in the process of changing out the radiator on my 1980 L-82. Decided to go with total shrouded dual cooling fans also . Eliminating the clutch fan and original electric fan. The new setup came with a new sensor, fuse block, relay and wiring to do half the job. My question is, the car has a original electric cooling fan, can I just plug into the original wiring plug and not use the extra stuff.? I think by what I have read the original sensor will need to be changed as it would turn on at to high of a temp. Anyone done this?

As another member suggested I put an independent relay to operate each fan. My second fan has a 10 second-delay built into it to help the alternator take the load when the 1st fan-relay switches on...then 10 seconds later the 2nd fan relay switches on. This eliminates the heavy load from both fans turning on at the same instant.

same here only mines a 15 degree delay not 10 seconds. Second fan kicks on IF the temp climbs 15 more degrees after the first fan kicks on which often doesnt happen unless its sitting in traffic for a while.

I have one of these but I use it with external relays to prevent the common failure reported with the internal relays when under load. https://www.ebay.com/itm/12187829932...Cclp%3A2334524

Same setup here, went with 80 amp relays to prevent failures.
